Minister of Youth Affairs Ibrahim Sannoh shared his strategic vision to the Chinese Ambassador to Sierra Leone, H.E. Wang Qing, during a high-level meeting held at the Chinese Embassy in Freetown.
The discussions aimed to strengthen bilateral cooperation and explore new opportunities for empowering Sierra Leonean youths.
Ambassador Wang Qing expressed strong support for Minister Sannoh’s vision, stressing on the importance of government-level resource mobilization through China Aid.
He committed to promoting the strategic plan via the Embassy’s Trade and Economic Office, with the objective of attracting more international partners and investments to support youth initiatives.
A central feature of Minister Sannoh’s initiative focused on empowering youth through agriculture, particularly in cash crop production. The strategy outlines that at least one chiefdom in every district will initiate three key agricultural ventures: rice, poultry, and a selected cash crop. The approach is reportedly aimed at promoting food security, entrepreneurship, and rural development, all driven by young people.
The engagement spotlighted the potential for increased investment in youth-led initiatives, which could play a vital role in the country’s economic growth and stability.
