Sierra Leone Immigration Department is recently making positive strides as a way of satisfying its customers and meeting international standards.

As a way of rendering effective services, the department is now actively exploring the implementation of online visa applications and appointment scheduling systems, allowing for a more convenient and paperless experience for travelers.

Also as a way of recognizing the interconnected nature of immigration, the commissioner has prioritized forging stronger relationships with international counterparts wherein he recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Belgian Immigration Office, paving the way for potential visa issuance within Sierra Leone. Similar collaborations are being explored with other countries.

The department is also making strides in combating corruption within the service.

Stricter internal regulations and emphasized ethical conduct have been implemented among immigration officers. Additionally, the department is working to improve communication and outreach efforts to build trust with the public.
