Former Minister of Justice under the Ernest Bai Koroma administration, Joseph Fitzgerald Kamara, has publicly condemned the recent internal conflicts within the All People’s Congress (APC) party.

Taking to his X (formerly Twitter) account earlier this week, Kamara expressed deep concern over the events unfolding at the party’s headquarters and the intensifying divisions among political camps and the Executive Branch.

Kamara described the situation as “uncalled for” and stressed the need for immediate action to quell the discord. In his statement, he called for unity and constructive dialogue, reminding party members that the APC belongs to the general membership, not to specific factions. “We must endeavor to accommodate and constructively engage,” Kamara wrote, urging for a more inclusive and collaborative approach.

This public statement follows recent clashes among party supporters, which have raised concerns about growing internal tensions within the APC. Kamara’s call for calm highlights the urgency for the party to resolve its differences through peaceful means and to refocus on addressing national challenges.

The APC, one of Sierra Leone’s main political parties, has faced growing internal strife since its defeat in the 2018 elections, and party insiders have increasingly voiced concerns about its ability to remain unified ahead of future elections. Kamara’s remarks reflect the gravity of the situation and the need for immediate steps toward reconciliation.
