B.C. Pradhan, Indian High Commissioner to Sierra Leone, paid a courtesy call on the Rt. Hon. Speaker of Parliament, Segepoh Solomon Thomas Esq., today in a move aimed at strengthening diplomatic and parliamentary ties between the two countries.
During the meeting, High Commissioner Pradhan delivered a goodwill message from India’s Speaker of Parliament and highlighted India’s long-standing partnership with Sierra Leone, citing initiatives in healthcare, education, and infrastructure development. He emphasized India’s commitment to supporting Sierra Leone’s growth through collaborative efforts and discussed opportunities for parliamentary exchange programmes and knowledge sharing.
Speaker Thomas welcomed the visit, noting the Sixth Parliament’s eagerness to deepen relations with India and leverage shared democratic values. Discussions also focused on enhancing inter-parliamentary dialogue, promoting economic cooperation, and addressing global challenges.
The meeting is seen as a milestone in strengthening India-Sierra Leone relations, with potential benefits for governance, trade, and people-to-people ties. Both sides are expected to formalize follow-up engagements to implement key outcomes from the discussions.
