Infinity Power, an Egyptian renewable energy provider, has sent a team of experts to Sierra Leone to conduct feasibility studies for installing 80 MW of ground-mounted and 60 MW of floating solar PV with battery storage at Bumbuna Hydro.
This move follows the signing of an MoU in July 2023 by Infinity Power’s Deputy CEO, Ahmed Mulla, who is optimistic about addressing Sierra Leone’s energy challenges.
The visiting team included solar engineers, Infinity’s West Africa Business Manager, and local energy officials.
The studies aim to gather sufficient data for a preliminary proposal, with Infinity’s representatives emphasizing the importance of collaboration with Sierra Leone’s Ministry of Energy.
Following the site visit, further meetings are planned between Sierra Leonean officials and Infinity Power’s leadership in Abu Dhabi.
