The International Organisation on Migration (IOM) has joined forces with the Aberdeen Women’s Center to provide crucial support and protection for female returnees in Sierra Leone.

This momentous partnership, formalized through a signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), aims to address the specific needs of these women and promote their successful reintegration into the community.

“We are thrilled to join hands with the Aberdeen Women’s Center in this vital initiative,” declared Christos Christodoulides, Head of Office at IOM Sierra Leone. “This partnership will ensure that returning women receive comprehensive healthcare, including essential ante-natal and post-natal care, as they navigate their way back home.”

Mr. Christodoulides further emphasized the MoU’s commitment to survivors of sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV). “Our collaboration will place a strong focus on providing access to counseling and support services specifically tailored to their unique needs and experiences,” he stated.

With their combined expertise and resources, IOM and the Aberdeen Women’s Center are poised to create a positive impact on the lives of returning women. By offering crucial healthcare, counseling, and social support, this partnership promises to empower these women and pave the way for their successful reintegration into the community.
