Minister of Internal Affairs, Retired Major General David Taluva, has shared his insights on the recent attempted coups against President Julius Maada Bio.

In an interview on Africa Young Voices (AYV) Television’s “Wake up Sierra Leone” program, Taluva attributed the failed attempts to the presence of disgruntled individuals within the army.

The Minister noted that every institution has its share of good and bad actors, and the military is no exception.

He emphasized that some individuals will never be satisfied with the achievements of others, regardless of their positive impact. Taluva also cited tribal sentiment and political affiliation as potential motivators for some individuals’ discontent.

The Minister stressed that military personnel and security officers have a duty to serve the government of the day, regardless of personal sentiments. His comments come amid a series of attempted coups against President Bio, who himself has a military background.
