The Vice President of Sierra Leone, Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh has yesterday met with the Britain’s Global Ambassador for Human Rights and Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations in Geneva, Rita French and encouraged her to lobby for more support for Civil Society Organisations in Sierra Leone.
The Vice President made this disclosure on social media.
“Today, I met with Britain’s Global Ambassador for Human Rights and Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations in Geneva, Rita French. She expressed her satisfaction and that of Britain on the progress we have made in the Human Rights fronts particularly with regards to the Abolition of the Death Penalty and expunging part 5 of the Public Order Act to enhance freedom of expression,” he stated.
VP Jalloh added, “We both agreed that Sierra Leone needs to tell her success stories including the gains made in women empowerment and girls education.
“I encouraged her to lobby for more support to CSO’s as this is vital to sustaining these gains and strengthen our nascent democracy,’ he asserted.
