Sierra Leone’s Vice President, Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh, paid a poignant tribute to the nation’s fallen heroes on the morning of November 12, 2023. In a solemn ceremony at the Cenotaph, he laid a wreath to honor the ex-servicemen and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.

Among the distinguished attendees was World War II veteran Private Pessima Lamboi, an awe-inspiring 102-year-old. The Vice President expressed deep honor and respect as he personally shook hands with Lamboi, acknowledging the veteran’s indomitable spirit and service to the nation.

In a statement, Vice President Jalloh remarked, “This morning’s ceremony was a solemn occasion to remember and honor our heroes who fought valiantly for our freedom. Private Pessima Lamboi’s presence, at the remarkable age of 102, serves as a living testament to the resilience and sacrifice of our veterans.
