On Thursday, February 29, 2024, Vice President Juldeh Jalloh met with the leadership team of the Sierra Leone Labour Congress to address various crucial topics. One of the primary focuses was the government’s interventions aimed at supporting social sectors and alleviating poverty within the country.

During the meeting, Vice President Jalloh passionately urged the leadership team to actively encourage Sierra Leoneans to participate in His Excellency Julius Maada Bio’s FEED SALONE initiative. The initiative aims to enhance agricultural productivity, ensure food security, and foster inclusive economic growth.

A key outcome of the discussions was the agreement to establish a social dialogue framework. This framework will serve as a sustained platform for engagement between the Sierra Leone Labour Congress and the government, facilitating ongoing collaboration.

Vice President Jalloh highlighted government investments in crucial areas such as education, health, public transport, and food production. These investments are strategically designed to enhance the overall wellbeing of the citizens. Noteworthy initiatives include the establishment of the National Social Protection Agency to address extreme vulnerabilities in the population.

In line with efforts to improve economic conditions, the government, under Vice President Jalloh’s guidance, has reviewed the minimum wage and is actively working towards harmonizing public sector wages.
