On Thursday, 15th August 2024, at the Brookfields Hotel in Freetown, the Vice President of Sierra Leone, Dr. Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh, called for improved governance in key areas during the start of the FY 2025 budget hearings.

The Vice President opened his statement with an outstanding appreciation of the Minister of Finance and his team for stabilizing the economy against very challenging global economic situation.

The Vice President further referred to the FY 2025 budget as “bridge budgeting” that will focus on building on the gains and supporting the Big Five Game changers.

However, he applauded the initiative not to increase and called for improved tax management and governance of key areas such as public utilities to reduce the burden on the government budget.

He also praised certain Ministries such as Fisheries and Marine Resources, Tourism and Lands for supporting government revenue drive.
