The Chief Executive Officer of Kabaka Multimedia and Entertainment (KME) and also the organiser of one of the biggest shows in Africa, EcoFest, Abu Bakarr Turary Esq, popularly known as The Kabaka has on today 9th May 2022 announced the 5th edition of the upcoming ECOFEST Music Festival, which is scheduled to hold on November 2022.
On his Facebook timeline, CEO of KME, The Kabaka posted:
“This year is special for ECOFEST MUSIC FESTIVAL as we will be celebrating our 5TH Edition since the inception of the brand. We owe it all to our numerous fans across the world and most especially the people of Sierra Leone who have constantly reminded us that no matter the challenges, our resilience gives hope to many.
In just four editions (three in Sierra Leone and one in The Gambia), the festival has registered a strong presence across the shores of Africa and beyond. We have gradually replaced the pale thoughts of people who would only associate Sierra Leone with the rebel war, blood diamonds, Ebola and other disasters even uncommon to mankind. Like Nigeria did with Afrobeats, we believe Sierra Leone has the potential to turn its fortunes with tourism and entertainment. We are not there yet, but we have conquered already.
Our mantra has been “if they can’t invite us to the big stages, we will create our own platform and ask them to come and see what we have to offer”. And the answer is yes! ECOFEST SIERRA LEONE is a big stage. From Nigeria’s Patoranking, Rema, Basket Mouth, Broda Shaggi and Guchi to Tanzania’s Diamond Platnumz and South Africa’s Master KG. This same platform hosted Ugandan Legend Jose Chameleone and BET Award winner, Eddy Kenzo. Ghana’s KiDi, Kuami Eugene, BET award winner, Stonebwoy and Mansa Star, Bisa Kdei have all graced this stage. Guinea’s Takana Zion and the all time African superstar duo, P-Square, Liberia’s Kobazzie, Malawi’s Tay Grin and Rwanda’s Platini P and a host of others have all been our guests in Freetown and we celebrated nothing but African beauty and Unity. In all of this, the most important is that our very own Sierra Leonean celebrities got to share the same stage on the same night with these people that we would have otherwise only seen on TV.
We continue to blaze the trail. We learn from our mistakes, harness loose ends, settle old scores and fight for a united entertainment front in Sierra Leone and Africa. We continue to strive to make entertainment not only enjoyable but also profitable. Our aim impacts on peace, culture and growth as youths are the majority participants of our festivals. The journey is carved to empower young people. To give us a sense of purpose. To remain steadfast in the pursuit of happiness as we make our home and continent a better place for our children and generations yet unborn.
The theme for this year was carefully selected to activate a new sense of direction. That like the name of my partner “Victor”, we believe we are already victorious and have conquered. This year’s ECOFEST SIERRA LEONE is dubbed “THE CONQUEST”. We are the conquering lions. Just as our God is the Lion of the tribe of Judah, we have also prevailed and conquered.
The dates for this year’s events are *November 25TH (The V.I.P Event) and November 26TH (Main Event)*. There will be a total of Ten Nations who will each be represented by at least one artiste. We will furnish our fans with details of the venue and acts on the bill for this year in coming weeks.
I Remain Loyal,
Abu Bakarr Turay Esq
