Kailahun District Descendants Union, UK chapter through Kailahun District Descendant Association (KAIDDA) has Donated the sum of NLe35,672 to the Kailahun Government Hospital as part of their moves to the development of the district.
The donation according to the chairman of KAIDDA Sierra Leone Retired Assistance Inspector General of Police Morie Lengor was to provide assistance to the hospital management in addressing their needs.
He noted that KAIDDU existed in UK for a long period of time but was unfortunately dissolved, and that the various contributions collected from members was agreed upon to aid the hospitals in Kailahun district.
Retired AIG Lengor, further mentioned that three different hospitals benefited the same amount, including Kailahun Government Hospital, Nixon Memorial Hospital in Segbwema, and Jujuima Hospital with NLe35,672 each. He advised the hospital management to use the money for its intended purpose and to also give account of expenditures.
In the presence of the local authorities, civil society organizations, and Media, Martin Mustapha Senesie, the Kailahun Government Hospital secretary upon receiving the cheque on behalf of the entire management applauded the laudable venture of KAIDDA.
He mentioned the lack of hospital beds, drugs, among many, as the hospital major challenges. Senesie however assured all and sundry of their commitment in being transparent and accountable for the donation.
Chief Augustine Amara Mendegla on behalf of the Paramount chief of Luawa pledged their commitment to monitoring the hospital management in utilizing the money.
