The Presidential Candidate for the All People’s Congress (APC) Dr. Samura Kamara appeared in court on Monday morning, days after he arrived from the United States.
Kamara is in court together with 7 other accused persons for corruption allegations in connection to the Sierra Leone Chancery Building in New York.
The APC Candidate is accused by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) of two count charges including misappropriation of public funds and misleading the principal.
Kamara had long denied the allegations against him citing that they are politically motivated and meant to smear his “good image”.
However, High Court Judge presiding over the matter, Adrian Fisher denied Kamara’s no-case submission about a month ago and ruled for a ‘locus in quo’.
The judge, the ACC boss, Francis Ben Kaifala, Kamara, and other lawyers visited the said Chancery Building in New York.
On Monday, the defense team started their defense.
In other news, there were reports that the convoy of Kamara was attacked by security forces at Mile 38.
However, police denied the allegation and heaped blame on the unruliness of some APC supporters that were part of the convoy.
