The Local Police Partnership Board (LPPB) in Kambia District has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the Sierra Leone Police (SLP) in promoting peace, security, and effective community policing.
This assurance was made during a courtesy visit to the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mr William Fayia Sellu. The delegation, led by the Paramount Chief of Gbinleh Chiefdom, PC Alimamy Sorie II, and LPPB Chairman, Mr Abu Bakarr Suma, visited to express appreciation for the IGP’s leadership and continued efforts in strengthening police–community relations in Kambia District.
Speaking on behalf of the delegation, PC Alimamy Sorie II commended the IGP for fulfilling commitments made during the commissioning of the newly constructed multipurpose hall in Kambia. He highlighted the donation of ten motorbikes to the LPPB, describing it as a significant boost to their mobility and ability to support policing activities and enhance collaboration with the Sierra Leone Police across border communities.

He also expressed appreciation for the provision of a plasma television, decoder, and six-month subscription for the welfare of police personnel. In addition, he acknowledged contributions from the President of the Police Wives Association (PWA), Mrs Sellu, including the provision of a borehole and a music system, which have improved living conditions at the Kambia Police Barracks.
In response, IGP William Fayia Sellu thanked the Kambia LPPB for its continued partnership and dedication to community policing. He paid tribute to Mr Abu Bakarr Suma for his personal contribution to the construction of the multipurpose hall, which has since been handed over to the Sierra Leone Police.
The IGP explained that the donation of ten motorbikes was informed by reports of mobility challenges faced by community partners in monitoring border areas and relaying timely intelligence to the police.
He assured that other Local Police Partnership Boards demonstrating similar commitment would also benefit from police support.
IGP Sellu further emphasized that modern policing is rooted in strong community partnerships and cannot rely solely on the use of force.
