Kandeh Yumkella Hosts Irish Climate Envoy to Boost Clean Cooking and Carbon Financing in Africa
The Chairman of the Presidential Initiative On Climate Change, Renewable Energy And Food Security, Kandeh Yumkella has on Friday 17th May, 2024 hosted the Irish Climate Envoy to Advance Clean Cooking And Carbon Financing Initiatives In Africa.
It was revealed that, the Meeting with the Irish team led by Sinead Walsh was focused on the outcomes of the Recent Clean Cooking Summit In Paris, And Support For The Clean Cooking Delivering Unit which key towards enhancing development in the sector.
Their discussion also incorporated the topic of Carbon Financing For Africa which led to the exploration of the appropriate timing and venues to start conversations on Fair Carbon Pricing, and Community Rights to Carbon credits.
Chairman Yumkella revealed to his counterparts the great work of the Ministry of Finance and Environment and Climate change on a climate change act being regulations for a credible and transparent carbon trading system in the country.
They further agreed to collaborate at the global level to advance these issues in partnership with the growing community of climate envoys as well as highlighting the need for innovative financing Mechanisms To Support Climate Action On The African Continent.
