Commissioner Abu Kanneh, a prominent stakeholder, in a significant move towards empowering the youth of Pujehun District, allocated funds to support ten university students from the district throughout their first year of studies.
This educational initiative aims to provide deserving candidates with the opportunity to pursue higher education and contribute to the district’s development.
The grants, which will cover the entire first year of university education, will be administered by a dedicated committee entrusted with the responsibility of shortlisting, conducting interviews, and making recommendations for Commissioner Abu Kanneh’s approval.
To ensure transparency and fairness, strict guidelines have been established, as any attempt by applicants, family members, or agents to influence the committee members will result in immediate disqualification.
The committee, comprising esteemed individuals from various fields, includes Dr. Isaac Massaquoi as the Chairman, Hadja Suafi Tunis, Edwin Jibao Jr, Denis Swaray, and Mamusu Hawa Senesie as members, with Mohamed T Massaquoi serving as the Secretary.
To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must meet specific criteria:
- Indigene of Pujehun District: Applicants must be residents of Pujehun District, demonstrating a strong connection to the local community.

Offer Letter from a Recognized Government University: Candidates must have a valid offer letter from a recognized government university in Sierra Leone, indicating their admission.

Interview Process: Prospective awardees must be prepared to face an interview panel to assess their general English language proficiency and their understanding of the proposed course of study.
Applications for the scholarship must be submitted via email to [email protected]. Applicants are required to attach all necessary supporting documents to their applications. The deadline for submission is Friday, 3rd November 2023, at 5:00 PM, and late applications will not be considered.
Commissioner Abu Kanneh’s initiative not only invests in the education of Pujehun District’s youth but also underscores the importance of local talents in shaping the district’s future.
Through these scholarships, promising students will be allowed to pursue higher education, contributing to the district’s progress and development.
