Popular writer and core SLPP Supporter who goes by the name Katie Gberie, has written a letter to Lawyer Basita Michael, blasting her over her campaign message to reinstate the suspended Auditor General, Lara Taylor-Pearce.
See letter below:
“LETTER TO APC LAWYER BASITA MICHAEL
Has the President lost the Constitutional authority to hire and fire?
Unfortunately Basita your tweet talking about the anniversary of the suspension of your colleague APC stooge Lara Taylor -Pearce was funny, and very irrelevant but it shows how much free space the freedom of expression now exist under the leadership of President Bio. Enti tok na free. But Basita you have lied that there was national and international outrage when Lara was suspended. Your efforts to taint the SLPP government has yielded to mere emptiness.
Let me remind you Basita that President Bio’s government has fully complied with the doctrine of Montesquieu who advocated for a separation of powers, a major ingredient in exhibiting democratic practice. Why should there be an indelible stain on the current Executive arm of government according to Basita’s tweet. Basita should be very much aware how independent all the three arms of government have operated under the Bio regime.
Clearly, President Bio has shown his respect for absolute separation of powers. Basita is so recalcitrant and defiant to accepting the truth that Sierra Leone is now in a New Direction. If Basita keep denying about the total existence of separation of powers under President Bio, let her quietly ask her APC colleague Paolo Conteh. Paolo Conteh will educate Basita that the judiciary is totally free from the influence of the executive arm of government under the Bio regime. Equally so, Basita’s APC colleague Diana Konomani should confirm to her that the current executive under the leadership of President Bio has given full free hands to the judiciary. Both Paolo and Diana will attest to the whole world that indeed it is a peculiar situation under the SLPP government for an opposition to have a fair trial, establishing facts, and not cooking stories because they want to eliminate opponents.
Basita is quite young enough to understand what happened in the 1970s when her APC government cooked up stories and forced the judiciary to kill Sorie Forna and the 14 others. History must have taught Basita that, but she still want to rub her opposition brush on the best atmosphere of justice prevailing under President Bio.
Another case of the APC executive arm-twisting the judiciary happened in 1987 when Francis Misheck Minah and others were killed, and the whole world knows that the evidence projected by the APC executive was very insufficient for Minah and others to have lost their lives. Of course the most recent one was when Ernest Koroma forced the judiciary to remove Vice President Sam Sumana unconstitutionally, and Basita was one of the lawyers Ernest Koroma hired to perpetuate his unconstitutional drive. Basita Michael made huge money out of the unfortunate enterprise. So what is Basita talking about executive interference under President Bio?
The ECOWAS court told Basita and her crooked APC that they were wrong, and that the decisions taken at that time were influenced by the executive arm under Ernest Koroma. Basita was a party to that misrepresentation. Basita participated in the deliberate ploy to deny Sam Sumana justice which actually got the international outrage she was referring to earlier in her tweet.
Basita you need to seek the attention of a psychiatric. You are so confused. Have you forgotten that President Bio has the constitutional right to hire and fire.
The August 10 terrorists attack on the people of Sierra Leone would have been a perfect opportunity to have trampled on the opposition had Basita”s APC vicious leaders being at the helm of political affairs in the country. Your APC would have deliberately hunted opposition members to break their necks without trial but based on flimsy evidence .
Of course it is in the record books of Sierra Leone that Basita’s APC has killed innocent people perceived to be their opponents. But look at what President Bio did – even when there are clear evidences pointing at people who planned and executed the August 10 terrorists attack on the democratically elected government, he has carefully instituted an Investigation Team, so that there will be fair chance of guilt on the planners and machinators of the deadly August 10 attack. Basita do you now see how President Bio is practicing separation of powers and the rule of law in Sierra Leone.
The other point here Basita, good to say you are a feminist, and you want to be seen supporting women in the country. Many agree that you are desperately supporting the fair trial of Lara. But the question most people are asking is that why is Basita not tweeting and supporting our First Lady Dr. Fatima Maada Bio for pioneering the recent UN Resolution putting the suffering of women on the spot light. As a result of the efforts of First Lady Fatima Bio, November 18th has gone down in history as a date to recognize the suffering of women in the whole world. Did this action of our First Lady Fatima Bio catch the eyes, or attention of Basita Michael as a feminist. No way – Basita turned a blind eye to such a huge success of a Sierra Leonean woman. Again, in just four years, the First Lady has made frantic effort to pull resources together to construct a 500 beds hospital at the 34 Military Hospital, a novelty in the history of Sierra Leone for a First Lady to project women as partners in development. Yet, Basita has never tweeted to support our First Lady for her tremendous effort, and Basita still claim to be a feminist.
Posterity will judge Basita for her unnecessary bile and hate for the good work of her fellow woman.
Let me bring to the notice of Basita that last year by now, the Audit Report was on the social media, aiming at embarrassing a group of individuals, with little care for ethics and adhering to responsibilities. Audit under Lara constantly breached the constitution, and Basita is very aware of it. There are credible institutions according to our constitution where the Audit report should be presented, and not the social media. Na tweet ketch you so Basita. But there is total separation of powers under President Bio, and the executive has in no way tried to influence the judiciary. Check with Paolo and Diana, then you will know the judiciary is never taken command from President Bio as head of the executive. Go sleep ya.
