The Kono Students’ Union (KonSU) has awarded scholarships to deserving pupils with the highest scores in the 2023 NPSE Examination. The scholarships were awarded on Saturday, 21st October 2023, at the Union Secretariat, Bona Street in Koidu City.
The top five students were awarded three-year scholarships each by Mr. Ahmed Komba Nanoh, a development partner. Each beneficiary among the top five also received One million Leones (LE1,000,000) and learning materials, which include bags, geometry sets, pencils, rulers and books.
Mr. Nanoh assured that this year’s scholarship is the start, promising his continuous support to Kono through KonSU National. He urged the pupils to do more and put their academic work first, and through that, more awards would be given to deserving pupils.
The National President of KonSU, Sahr Jawara Allieu, said that the award is meant to motivate the pupils and to raise the bar for academic excellence in the district, especially those transitioning to Junior Secondary school.
The Chairman of the Council of Paramount Chiefs, Chief Foryoh, and the Civil Society Organization, Mani Ngaujah, and other stakeholders made relevant contributions to inspire the pupils to do more in their studies.
The award targeted 32 pupils, the top – five and the best 27 pupils. They all benefited from school materials such as bags, geometry set, pencils, rulers and books.
This is a great initiative by KonSU and Mr. Nanoh, and it is hoped that it will motivate more pupils to work hard and achieve academic excellence.
