The Kormende Progressive Union (KPU) has announced to host its Annual Islamic Gathering from December 26–31, 2025, in the peaceful and historic town of Kpandebu Dama, located in Dama Chiefdom, Kenema District in Eastern Sierra Leone.

This six-day event will unite Muslim scholars, community leaders, union members, and well-wishers from across Sierra Leone and the diaspora for a time of spiritual reflection, Islamic teachings, and community engagement with the Theme “Faith, Unity, and Progress: Building Stronger Communities Through Islam,”

The event will also incorporate other activities including Soulful recitations of the Holy Qur’an, Enlightening lectures by renowned Islamic scholars, Powerful duas (prayers) for peace and development, Fundraising initiatives for vital community projects, Reunion sessions and youth empowerment discussions.

The Union has extended invitation to all Muslims, friends of the Union, and the general public to join this blessed occasion and experience not only spiritual enrichment, but community bonding, and a renewed commitment to peace, unity, and progress.

The Komende is one of the sub-branches of the Mende Ethnic group residing in mainly Kenema District and other parts of Eastern Sierra Leone. The group is renowned for their strict adherence to Islamic values and warmth.
