Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma, the former President of Sierra Leone, has issued a heartfelt plea to the Sierra Leone Electoral Management body, ECSL, security forces, and election stakeholders, urging them to ensure fairness for all individuals involved in the electoral process.

During a press engagement following his own voting experience in his residential district of Makeni on June 24th, Dr. Koroma emphasized the importance of treating every participant with equality.

He called upon the electoral commission, security agencies, and all relevant parties responsible for managing the process to ensure that everyone feels they are being treated fairly, without any apparent bias or discrimination towards any particular candidate or group.

“I also urged the election Management bodies, the electoral commission, security agencies and all concerns that are managing the process to make sure everybody feels he or she is being fairly treated and there is no obvious segregation of supporting anyone here and there.” He said.

Reflecting on his own voting experience, Dr. Koroma expressed concerns about the lack of privacy at the voting center. He urged the ECSL to address these challenges promptly to maintain the secrecy of the ballot and preserve the integrity of the process.

Additionally, Dr. Koroma appealed to the people of Sierra Leone to uphold peace and exhibit peaceful conduct throughout the elections. He emphasized the importance of maintaining a peaceful environment during this critical time for the nation.
