Former President Ernest Bai Koroma’s lawyers have filed a formal request with the court to allow him to travel to Nigeria for medical treatment, according to a report by Global Times.
Koroma, who faces four counts of treason, misprision of treason, and harboring, is scheduled for his second court appearance on Wednesday. However, his legal team argues that urgent medical attention abroad is necessary.
The court is currently scrutinizing the validity of the medical claims, while West African diplomats have revealed the government’s conditional agreement to Koroma’s departure, pending judicial approval. Notably, ECOWAS President Dr. Omar Alieu Touray reportedly visited Freetown last week to finalize arrangements for the former president’s medical trip to Nigeria.
The impending court decision adds another layer of complexity to Koroma’s legal saga. While granting the medical request could appease concerns about his well-being, it also raises logistical and security challenges related to his return for the treason trial.

For me if come to the point of inviting medical Doctors to Sierra Leone get the government of this nation do so. But as we stand the formal president should not be allow to leave this country for any reason. My take.
In this case, the lawyer of the former president Koroma should sign an authentic documents that if his client didn’t return for treason trial he made be held accountable for any charges laid down on former president Koroma. Or any other person that will say the former president should leave the country for medication.
This is another plan set for the former president Koroma to leave the country unfinished. But anyway we are observing to see the decision of the court.

We will continue to watch the government and the judiciary of Sierra Leone to see if they are competent in doing their job as judges and also the government of Sierra Leone to see if he’s ruling us in Sierra Leone by the constitution of Nigeria and that of the ECOWAS constitution and not Sierra Leone constitution. The Government of Sierra Leone will not grant any medical leave for the former President because he is been charged for treason and harbouring this case against him is the highest crime one can case in his/country, so let him pays ticket for the doctor, so he will be treated in Sierra Leone. I have TWO options: EITHER (A) EBK should be taken to the best hospital he built in Salone. There he can be treated with ultra modern equipment and he can also import a doctor from Nigeria, in case his own doctor has died. OR (B) EBK can hand over his entire assets to the govt of Salone as guarantee, in case he die in Nigeria or didn’t want to return for his trial.
For all I know, former president Koroma has served this country diligently and he is a man of peace. People who want him to be criminalized in this attempt coup saga do not love themselves and the country as a whole.
To know somebody has northing to do with former president Komama’s involvement in this. You will agree with me that armed robbers came to this world through parent but that does not mean that their parents are armed robbers too. If it was so then Pademba road prison would have filled with parent of armed rubbers. But why the armed robbers are there alone without their parent?

personnel in Sierra Leone,
I sounds rediculous for former president to seek medical attention elsewhere. What kind of disease his former president having that requires medical attention in a foreign country? I suggest they take him to Makeni for medical attention. He can consult with the sokobanas and Gbangbani. What did former president did to improve medical services while in office?
Please mr president let this man stay until investigation is done,the same former president that sell this country so let him facing the consequences consequences of it.if we can take a look from the formal president Mr Alhaji Tejan Kabbah.When he left power he never put his hands on politics but why Koroma what is wrong with you,are you power consus no it’s very undone.
He has the right to get his medical were so ever he chooses, so let him go.
Are the ECOWAS sending an alarm button to halt on an allegations? Are they going to help him work out? Is Dr Ernest Bai Koroma a good example among other leaders? Are all this things good to happen to a leader?
I ask the government this question again as i did on Facebook: ” Who is fooling who”. I have never seen this kind of preferential treatment for a man facing criminal offences in a court of law. This government flip-flops a lot on matters of principles. No justice, no equity, no fairness, and no accountability. Only God is helping especially the downtrodden.
Here we go with Nigeria again, meddling in our country’s business. Why Nigeria? Why not Ghana, that even has better medical facilities than Nigeria? President Bio really need to warn these people to respect our country sovereignty.
Why is it that Ernest is try to escape trail, that is because he is guilty of the offences level against him. I want the government of Sierra Leone and H.E. Bio bring any doctor of former president Ernest Bai Koroma to be treated here in Sierra Leone. And also president Bio should be very mindful that the Ecowas might be setting him up as soon as he allow former president Ernest Bai Koroma to leave this country, then they will start asking him saying,if really this is a treasonable case why did you granted him bail,if again it’s true that this man commited these offences,why did you allowed him to go for treatment outside your country? and so and so fort.Then international committee will now intervene in the former president Ernest Bai Koroma’s behalf.Let there be justice for all.
APC what ever you do EBK is going to face justice and with the appropriate punishment, your plan is childish look for another one.
Government EBK is not and should not be a sacred cow to the laws of our land all this gimmicks is as a result of the house arrest , so people never take the issue serious . EBK should be in the prison custody while facing trials as did to others who committed the same offence.
