Lahai Lawrence Leema Yannie, the National Publicity Secretary of the SLPP, says his connection to the Sierra Leone People’s Party is not something that can be questioned or removed, describing his role in the party as tied to his personal background and the kind of leadership structure the SLPP was built on.
Speaking during a recent media interview, Leema explained that he comes from a family with a warrior and chief background. He said the SLPP was formed on a similar type of structure and pedigree, which closely reflects his own origins.
He described his place in the SLPP as more than just party membership or a shared interest. According to him, he holds what he called a patent right in the party. He explained that this means an exclusive personal claim that cannot be taken away. He said this is not even an equitable interest, but a full right based on who he is and where he comes from.
Leema added that this kind of position cannot be challenged or pushed aside, even during times of internal disagreement.
He maintained that his role in the party is not one that can be removed or challenged.
