The Local Unit Commander of the Harbour Police Division ACP Denis Musa Taylor together with Mr. Harold S. Campbell, a representative from the Office of National Security (ONS), on Wednesday 4th January 2023, held a security-related meeting with representatives of the Drivers Union and Bike Riders Union, with regards to the expected use and maintenance of the newly constructed Hillside Bypass Road.

Addressing the various representatives, Mr. Campbell mentioned that some ill-motivated individuals have started to misuse the road by constructing market stalls also commonly known as ‘Bafas’ along the flanks of the road. He added that some bike riders, Tricycle (kekeh) drivers, and vehicle drivers are also in the habit of washing their machinery on the road and using the road as a garage leaving black oil spillage on the ground wherever they conducted their maintenance. He therefore warned that such actions must stop immediately and any defaulter will be arrested and charged to court.

The LUC also mentioned about the joint operation involving the SLP and the Metropolitan Police to dissuade people from misusing the road. He further stated that the Operations Team will regularly conduct vehicular and foot patrols along the road to prevent any misuse of it.

Responding to these concerns, the various representatives promised to disseminate the message to their members for proper circulation.

In conclusion, Supt. Edward Kebie Sesay (Support Officer) thanked all especially Mr. Campbell and craved on the indulgence of all to utilize the road in a good manner by abiding by its regulations so that it can attain its longevity period and serve its purpose.
