In a resounding endorsement of the Ministry of Information and Civic Education’s work, His Excellency President Dr Julius Maada Bio has commended the Minister of Information and Civic Education, Hon. Chernor A.M. Bah, for his exceptional leadership in reshaping Sierra Leone’s information landscape and strengthening civic education nationwide.

The commendation came during the Presidential Town Hall in Makeni, where President Bio officially launched the Ministry’s flagship publication, “Transforming Sierra Leone,” a magazine documenting the Government’s development journey and the Ministry’s efforts to foster an informed and engaged citizenry under the “Year of Action” agenda.

Before a packed audience comprising government officials, Members of Parliament, Paramount Chiefs, local authorities, development partners, civil society organisations, members of the diplomatic corps, the media, and thousands of residents, President Bio paused his address to publicly recognise Minister Bah’s contribution.

Ladies and gentlemen, I have the honour. First, I have a great young man on my side here who has done so much. For the information landscape and civic education, and he’s doing extremely well. Transforming potential to reality. I’m proud of you, and I want you to know that you have done a great job. Thank you very much.

The President’s heartfelt tribute was greeted with sustained applause from the audience, underscoring widespread appreciation for the Ministry’s role in promoting transparency, public accountability, and civic participation through strategic communication.

The launch of “Transforming Sierra Leone” marked another milestone in the Ministry’s efforts to bridge the gap between government and citizens. Richly illustrated and comprehensive in scope, the publication captures major government projects, policy reforms, infrastructure development, governance achievements, and civic education initiatives implemented across the country.

More than a record of achievements, the magazine serves as an important civic education resource, providing citizens with accessible information about government priorities, development programmes, and national progress. It reflects the Ministry’s commitment to ensuring that every Sierra Leonean has access to credible information that enables meaningful participation in national development.

The recognition of Minister Bah also reflects the growing impact of the Ministry’s strategic communication initiatives, including the Weekly Government Press Briefings, Presidential Town Halls, public information campaigns, community engagement programmes, and civic education outreach, all of which have significantly expanded citizens’ access to government information.

The Makeni Presidential Town Hall, held under the theme “Year of Action,” formed part of President Bio’s nationwide accountability initiative, providing citizens with a unique opportunity to engage directly with the President and senior government officials on issues affecting their communities and the nation at large.

For more than three hours, President Bio responded to questions, addressed concerns, and outlined the Government’s progress across key sectors, reinforcing his administration’s commitment to openness, accountability, and inclusive governance.

The official launch of “Transforming Sierra Leone” during the Town Hall further highlighted the Ministry of Information and Civic Education’s central role in documenting the Government’s development story while fostering an informed citizenry capable of actively contributing to Sierra Leone’s democratic and socio-economic transformation.

President Bio’s public commendation of Minister Chernor A.M. Bah stands as a powerful affirmation of the Ministry’s achievements and its continued commitment to delivering timely, accurate, and accessible information to the people of Sierra Leone as the Government accelerates implementation of its “Year of Action” agenda.
