A man identified as Mamadou Warne was allegedly attacked and stabbed by hired thugs over a longstanding land dispute in the evening hours of Saturday, May 10, 2025 in Waterloo.
Allegations have emerged that a man named Mr. Jalloh, the accused, hired a group of seven youths to carry out the attack, which resulted to sustained injury and death.
The conflict over the disputed land has reportedly persisted for eight years, with court rulings affirming that Mr. Warne was the rightful owner. Despite those legal decisions, Mr. Jalloh has allegedly continued to assert his claim to the property, which is located along the main road of Ategebeh town.
Witnesses reported that the confrontation began in the morning when Mr. Jalloh, accompanied by seven individuals, confronted Mr. Warne and his brother while they were performing maintenance on their roof. Tensions escalated as stones were allegedly thrown at the workers, resulting in injuries to both men.
Later that evening, after the initial attack had ended, Warne was reportedly attacked again. He was stabbed in the chest, and despite immediate medical attention, he was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital.
Currently, Jalloh and the individual believed to have carried out the stabbing, who is reportedly an employee of Jalloh, are in police custody as investigations continue. Authorities are expected to conduct interviews with eyewitnesses and family members of the victim in the coming days.
