In an exclusive interview with Liberty Online TV, prominent lawyer Augustine Sorie Sengbe Marrah praised President Julius Maada Bio for what he described as “extraordinary grace” in appointing ordinary citizens to key positions in government.
Marrah noted that it would be unfair to judge all officials with the same brush, pointing out that while some sectors are performing well, others continue to lag behind.
“Even if you have somebody in Foreign Affairs doing well and another person in a different sector under-performing, it will rub off on all of you,” he observed, stressing the principle of collective responsibility.
At the same time, Marrah expressed disappointment with the performance of the newer generation of leaders. “This new crop of young leaders falls absolutely below expectations. With all the tools available in this modern era, young people should be able to accelerate development,” he said.
He further explained that while older leaders might take two years to achieve certain milestones, younger leaders should ideally accomplish the same in six months. “But we have seen a different narrative altogether,” Marrah concluded.
