Mayor of the Freetown City Council Yvonne Aki-Sawyerr has called for the immediate release of the Western Area Rural District Deputy Chairman Robert Brown. 

The Mayor in a tweet wrote, “This is a deeply disturbing development. I join the Western Area Rural Council in calling for the immediate release from detention of Deputy Chairman Councilor Robert Browne.”

Brown was arrested on Saturday when he went to make a formal complaint at the Adonkia Police Station following an alleged demolition of houses in his ward. 

He is in charge of Ward 387, Dodo Section in Constituency 109, Goderich. 

He was arrested on orders from the AIG for Freetown West on charges of incitement and is being detained at the Lumley Police Station. 

It was alleged by the AIG that Brown had incited the people of his community to fight with the police who were carrying out the demolition exercise.
