The Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary Education (MBSSE) has initiated the planning of the school feeding program for the next academic year-2023/2024.
The Minister of MBSSE, David Moinina Sengeh noted that the feeding project is essential to the president in his transforming education agenda in the country.
He said the government is providing food for eight boarding schools as well as other opportunities in the education sector of Sierra Leone.
“School meals are essential to President Bio’s Transforming Education agenda. In addition to providing food for 8 boarding schools, and periodically supplying 15+ special needs institutions (outside of their yearly subvention), we’re feeding 748,000 kids nationwide through our partners. 85% of that comes from the GoSL basket! This is how we help support families as well. Today, we’re deep into planning for next year!” he stated.
A very good project indeed. This has been one of the events we’ve ever missed as peasants of the interior schools to be specific.
Convincingly this is a blessing to both the central and regions nationwide, and this shows the government’s commitment to ensuring not only quality education for the willing but even the unwilling jaws starters. In our towns and villages parents forcefully kept their children from early schooling, because buying school regalia is considered a waste of…. at that stage but this opportunity always forced them to send their children to school at an instant which they indeed do appreciate as age metamorphosis.
However, our government’s effort in this vein is been seen and considered not existed/existing due to the MARRED conduct and MAL ADMINISTRATION of schools.
Convincingly from personal evaluation, “my contry people” take this as private bonuses by selling the whole or part and sometimes makes availability two or three times only in a week.
I recommend MONITORING and EVALUATION…MEAL be along with strictness and justice. I mind not to undertaking volunteer.
Thanks and appreciations to the GosL of Sierra Leone through Bio’s new directions for the support of school going pupils in 8 boarding schools 85% that’s equivalent to 748,000 pupils benefiting from the school feeding program and the additional salaries of teachers 45% even though it is not yet completely done by the ministry but hopefully it will happen because 15% have reflected ,
