As President Bio launched Drone for Good Corridor 2 years ago at Njala University for the use of drone to deliver medicines in the rural parts of Sierra Leone, finally the delivery of medicines with drone has started today.

According to sources, the drone took 13 minutes to deliver Essential Medicines between Rotifunk and the Mabang village Peripheral Health Center. This journey between the two health centers takes about 2 hours by road. The Nurse said it could sometimes take her two to three days to get life-saving supplies.

In Sierra Leone, President Bio launched a Drone for Good Corridor in partnership with development partners and Njala University almost two years ago. And today, that work continues to push the boundaries of what is possible.

The government of Sierra Leone has trained a drone pilot, done workshops with students and stakeholders. The government believes that the fourth industrial revolution and technology and scientific advances must be used to transform the lives of Sierra Leoneans in basic and ordinary ways.
