Former Minister of Political and Public Affairs, Ambassador Foday Yumkella, gracefully handed over the reins of the Ministry of Public Administration and Political Affairs to his successor, Mr. Amara Kallon.
The symbolic ceremony held at the Ministry’s Conference room was marked by a seamless transition of responsibilities, as the former Deputy Minister now assumes the position of the Minister.
During the occasion, the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry, Madam Rugiatu Kamara, played a crucial role by convening the meeting and facilitating individual introductions. The atmosphere was cordial and welcoming, setting the stage for a collaborative and productive work environment.
Ambassador Yumkella, in his farewell address to the Ministry’s staff, displayed his warmth and camaraderie as he related well to everyone present.
He advised them to extend their support and cooperation to the current Minister, Mr. Amara Kallon, emphasizing that the new Minister has been instrumental in the Ministry’s progress. Describing Mr. Kallon as humble and hardworking, Ambassador Yumkella expressed his confidence in the future success of the Ministry under the new leadership.
Deputy Minister Philip Tondoneh, in his speech, expressed his delight at assuming the role of Principal adviser to the Minister.
He vowed to contribute his expertise to ensure the Ministry’s continued success, highlighting his commitment to achieving the objectives laid out in pillar four (4) of the SLPP manifesto.
In his address, Minister Amara Kallon expressed gratitude to Ambassador Yumkella for being a mentor and a fatherly figure to him throughout his five-year tenure.
He acknowledged the significant guidance and support he received, which contributed to his growth as a leader.
Minister Kallon urged all staff members to work diligently and collaboratively towards actualizing the objectives outlined in the SLPP manifesto, particularly focusing on pillar four (4) that holds the key to the Ministry’s development.
With a spirit of inclusivity, Minister Kallon assured all staff members that his door is always open for positive deliberations and discussions aimed at fostering the Ministry’s growth and success.
