Sierra Leone’s Chief Minister, Dr. David Moinina Sengeh has arrived in New York ahead of the commencement of the UN Security Council in New York.
He was received by the Deputy Permanent Representative of Sierra Leone to the United Nations, H.E. Ambassador Amara Sowa upon arrival.
The Chief Minister recently confirmed his participation in the upcoming UN Security Council’s open debate on the situation in the Middle East.
The debate, convened at the Ministerial level, is scheduled for today, January 23, 2024.
In a statement, Chief Minister Sengeh expressed Sierra Leone’s unwavering commitment to global peace and security.
He emphasized the imperative need to cease hostilities and advocated for a lasting solution through diplomatic dialogue.
Minister Sengeh’s presence at the UN Security Council’s debate signals Sierra Leone’s active engagement in addressing critical international affairs.
I smell a problem here. What I am talking about is who is the appropriate officer that should represent La République de Sierra Leone at this ministerial conference at the UN? Should it be the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation or the Chief Minister? Are both of them in NY? What is the job description of the chief minister anyway? I don’t know about the inner workings of this administration, but clearly there is a crisis of confidence somewhere.
Please fellow Sierra Leonean let us STOP doing or saying things that is not good for our country. Let grievance not led us to bad thoughts. Let always pray and have confidence in our brothers & sisters. And always say “WE CAN DO IT” together.
Note that Dr. Moinina Sengeh is a CHIEF minister, he can step in for all ministers.
And above all he is our brother (Sierra Leonean) and leader.
Whether the chief minister or the minister of foreign Affairs and international coorporation or not as long as we are represented
