The Minister of Finance, Sheku Ahmed Fantamadi Bangura, has visited the Freetown International Airport in Lungi to witness the arrival of key construction materials for the ongoing development of the Congress Centre, Hotel, and Presidential Villas.
During the visit, the Minister also inspected the construction site to assess progress and held discussions with the project contractors, FB Group.
Management of FB Group assured the Minister of their commitment to delivering the project within the stipulated timeframe, noting that work is being carried out around the clock to ensure completion ahead of the ECOWAS Heads of State Summit scheduled for later this year.

The development of the Congress Centre, Hotel, and Presidential Villas is a flagship government initiative aimed at strengthening infrastructure in Lungi, enhancing Sierra Leone’s capacity to host high-level international events, and positioning the country as a destination for tourism and global conferences.

In his remarks, Bangura commended FB Group for the pace and quality of work, reaffirming government’s support to ensure the successful and timely completion of the project. He emphasized that President Julius Maada Bio remains committed to closing the infrastructure gap and transforming Sierra Leone into a hub for investment, tourism, and international diplomacy
