Sierra Leone’s Minister of Health and Sanitation, Austin Demby has handed over site for the construction of a Burns unit at Connaught Hospital in Freetown.

The handing over was not only on the Burns site construction but also includes the supply of tons of medical equipment, including three (3) new ambulances, as well as an active oxygen plant, which are all very vital aid to push the health improvement in the Hospital.

In his recent engagement with the UK High Commissioner to Sierra Leone, Lisa J. Chesney, Minister Demby disclosed that the outcome was a positive one which geared towards the effective ways of using the substantial UK support to the health sector for improved health outcomes across the country.

Speaking on other developmental strives in the sector for which approvals and success have been made, the minister said that, ‘’Training of trainers in early detection and treatment of cervical cancer is off to a great start in Sierra Leone. Scaling up to replicate the Zambia experience of 130 sites and 1.5m women enrolled’’.
