The Minister of Trade, Dr Edward Hinga Sandy, as against the recent reduction of taxes from 10% to 5% on cement and iron rod, has closed down shops of Cement and Iron Rod Importers who failed to answer to a call on negotiation geared at ensuring that all importers of cement and iron rod comply with the recent reduction of taxes.
According to the minister, this great step was taken after he had called on these importers to meet with them in relation to the above mentioned issue, but they did not honoured his call, therefore he embarked on closing their shops, so that they will hasten to meet with him and decide on the reduction of prices for these items.
