The Ministry of Employment, Labour and Social Security, in a press release, has warned against unaccredited employment agencies that take people to Saudi Arabia in illegal ways.

The Ministry stated that the warning is in tandem with the Government’s commitment to promote decent work for Sierra Leoneans. They stated that the Ministry of Employment, Labour and Social Security in June 2022 signed a memorandum of understanding with the Government of Saudi Arabia for the recruitment of migrant workers from Sierra Leone to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The Ministry also stated that the Embassy of Saudi Arabia in Guinea, after conducting rigorous assessment, accredited 4 licensed private employment agencies for the recruitment of migrant workers and 3 medical centers for the conduct of medical examination tests on prospective candidates for the Gulf Health Council (GHC).

They listed the SOS Global Investments SL, Human Resources Global Consultancy SL Ltd, Suma’s Travel Consultancy and Seasons SL Ltd.

Three accredited medical centers were also listed. They include Ramsey Medical Laboratories, Ecomed Medical Centre and Shuman Hospitals.

At the end of the release, the Ministry advised that the public particularly prospective migrant workers to Saudi Arabia are strongly advised to contact the Ministry and only deal with the above-mentioned agencies and medical centers to facilitate their safe migration.
