The Ministry of Lands, Housing and Country Planning has announced a mandatory verification process for all commercial land plots sold within the Kenema Airfield, warning that unverified plots will be put up for resale.
In a public notice issued on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, the Ministry directed all individuals who purchased land parcels within the designated airfield area to immediately come forward with proof of transaction.
To validate their ownership claims, buyers who deposited funds into the government’s designated account at the Bank of Sierra Leone must submit their official bank pay-in slips. The Ministry has designated two collection points to facilitate the process:
In Freetown: The office of the Principal Accountant, Moinina V. J. L. Kopoi Esq., located on the 3rd Floor of the Youyi Building, Ministry Headquarters.
In Kenema: The office of the Regional Director, Mr. Yayah Kamarakeh, at the Ministry’s Regional Office.

The government has set a strict deadline of May 30, 2026, for the submission of all payment receipts.
Land officials emphasized that the ministry will treat a failure to produce evidence of payment within this window as a non-payment. Consequently, any unverified commercial plots at the Kenema Airfield will be classified as unpaid and immediately put back on the market for resale.
The notice, jointly signed by the Acting Professional Head and Director of Surveys and Lands, Alpha Dauda, and Principal Accountant Moinina V. J. L. Kopoi Esq., concluded with a stern caution to property buyers: “You have been warned.”
