The Ministry of Information and Civic Education has announced the launch of the Civic Champion Awards, a new initiative aimed at recognizing individuals and organizations making significant contributions to civic responsibility, national unity, and Sierra Leone’s development.

The Ministry is calling on the public to submit nominations for those who have demonstrated acts of courage, selflessness, and sustained leadership that strengthen the fabric of Sierra Leonean society. The deadline for nominations is 5th December 2024, and applications can be submitted via the official nomination link: https://bit.ly/ccanominate.

According to the Ministry, the Civic Champion Awards aim to celebrate the unsung heroes who go above and beyond in their communities, workplaces, and the nation at large. The ceremony, scheduled for 12th December 2024, will take place at the Miatta Conference Centre in Freetown, with the First Lady, Her Excellency Madam Fatima Bio, serving as the Special Grand Chief Host.

“This is a moment for us to come together as a nation and celebrate those who embody the values of civic responsibility and unity,” the Ministry stated in its announcement.

The Civic Champion Awards seek to highlight the essential role of leadership and community engagement in fostering national progress. Citizens are encouraged to nominate individuals or organizations whose efforts have had a lasting impact on Sierra Leone’s progress in areas such as civic education, social cohesion, and development initiatives.

The Ministry emphasized the importance of public participation in identifying nominees, urging citizens to take advantage of this opportunity to recognize and honor those making a difference.
