As part of the rehabilitation process of Kush victims in the country, the ministry of social welfare has on the 10th may, 2024 held the second batch of sixty victims of drug and substance abuse (kush) at the Peace Mission Training Centre (PMTC) Hasting in Freetown.
This came by after the discharged the first batch of forty (40) rehabilitated service users affected by drug and substance abuse, now turned ambassadors in April.
the Minister of Social Welfare, Melrose Karminty encouraged the parents of the victims to have hope in the process of rehabilitating their children, as well as supporting the ministry through prayers. The Honourable Minister compared the condition of this current batch to that of the previous batch, adding that the previous batch, through the help of God and government, is now seen as agents of change.
She disclosed that, her ministry has registered over four hundred kush victims of which the rehab centre can only accommodate few but they are still having the quality of service rendered being good and comfortable at all times.
Professor Foday Sahr, the newly appointed chairperson of the National Tax Force on Kush, thanked the Kush victims and their parents for their willingness to come for rehabilitation.
He appreciated the minister for her leadership, adding that even before the president announced the national emergency, because of her proactiveness, she was able to guide the process, which saw the first batch of forty being rehabilitated.
I look forward to the next bach for my son be taken in , even though I’m not happy for this intake bcos my son too has been registered just after the first bach were out he has been on the cancelling session all these weeks leading to this second Bach, with all hopes that my son will be going in the with the second bach as promised by the cancellors but to our dismay as parent who have suffered a lot from having a child who is on Kush he was dropped out on last friday when the bach will be going on Saturday May 11, however all hope is not lost as I’m looking forward to the third Bach intake Affected Parent Freetown
