Defiant opposition All People’s Congress (APC) Member of Parliament, Mohamed Bangura is set to represent Sierra Leone at the ECOWAS Parliament in Abuja, Nigeria.

Bangura will serve together with new Sierra Leone People’s Party MP from Kono, Emerson Saa Lamina in the sub-regional parliament.

Bangura who is currently serving as the Deputy Leader of Government Business in the Sierra Leone Parliament will replace the former minority leader and fellow party member, Chernor Maju Bah who served as Head of Delegation at Abuja.

Meanwhile Lamina will replace another veteran APC MP, Ajibola Manly-Spaine at the ECOWAS Parliament.

Bangura is one of only two APC MP who defied the party’s stance to boycott governance over dispute of the June 2023 multitier election results. Some members and supporters of the party have referred to him as a betrayer but Karene District MP said he defied the party in order to serve the country.
