The Ministry of Planning and Economic Development (MoPED) has announced the immediate discontinuation of temporary approvals for Service Level Agreements (SLAs) of non-funded projects by Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs).

This directive, conveyed through a press release, forms part of the Ministry’s broader strategy to enhance the project evaluation process.

The Ministry emphasized that this decision aims to ensure that only funded projects aligned with the Medium Term National Development Plan are processed by relevant Line Ministries and included in the NGO Partnership Mapping Tool. This move is intended to foster a more structured and efficient approach to project implementation, ensuring that resources are allocated to initiatives that contribute to national development goals.

MoPED reassured NGOs and the general public that the new policy is not designed to hinder the crucial contributions made by NGOs in various sectors. Instead, it is a proactive measure to bolster the integrity of the NGO sector, thereby enhancing public confidence and trust in their operations.

By focusing on funded projects that align with national priorities, the Ministry aims to optimize the impact of development efforts and promote transparency in project management.

MoPED expressed its commitment to working closely with NGOs to ensure a smooth transition to this new framework, which is expected to streamline operations and enhance accountability within the sector.
