A breastfeeding mother and two other individuals have been arrested by the Sierra Leone Police (SLP) in connection with the alleged unlawful possession of substances suspected to be Kush, following an intelligence-led operation in Freetown.
According to police sources, the operation was carried out by officers of the Eastern Police Division under the leadership of the Operations Officer, DSP Septimus Siaka Vandi.
The raid took place at No. 9 Patton Street, where officers reportedly recovered nine plastic bags containing marshmallow leaves believed to be used in the production of Kush.
The suspects arrested at the scene have been identified as Aminata Mansaray, Ameria Fofanah, and Chernor Amadu Barrie, all of whom are residents of the same address.
Police further disclosed that acting on additional intelligence, the team extended the operation to the residence of Mohamed Sankoh, located at the Sierra Leone Muslim Congress Secondary School Junction in Kissy, Freetown.
Sankoh is said to be linked to the distribution network operating from Patton Street. At his residence, officers reportedly recovered two additional plastic bags containing the suspected substance.
All suspects, along with the recovered exhibits, have been taken into police custody as investigations continue.
The Sierra Leone Police say the operation forms part of ongoing efforts to clamp down on the circulation and use of Kush and other illicit substances across the capital.
