The murder trial of Abdul Kpaka, accused of killing Sia Fatmata Kamara, has been adjourned to September 4, 2024, following his first court appearance today in Freetown. Magistrate Santigue Bangura presided over the hearing at Pademba Court, with the defense led by Teddy Koroma Esq. and the state prosecution represented by Joan Bull Esq.

The case has sparked widespread outrage after a postmortem revealed that Kamara suffered severe injuries, including broken ribs and a damaged spinal cord. Kpaka, who was formally charged by the Sierra Leone Police yesterday, faces significant public and human rights pressure for a swift and thorough judicial process.

Sia Kamara’s funeral is scheduled for September 1, 2024, at the Charles Davies Memorial United Methodist Church in Lumley, with a memorial service on August 30 at the Freetown City Council Auditorium.
