The National Anti-Corruption Strategy (NACS) Secretariat engaged with the Integrity Management Committee (IMC) of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on Thursday to monitor and assess the implementation of the NACS framework.
The meeting took place in the ACC conference room and provided delegates the opportunity to update on institutional reforms, system strengthening, and initiatives aimed at enhancing accountability and transparency within the Commission’s operations.
In his welcome remarks, ACC Deputy Commissioner Augustine Foday Ngobie highlighted the importance of the NACS framework and emphasized the IMC’s role in upholding ethical standards and operational transparency.
“To maintain public confidence in the ACC, the Integrity Management Committee must ensure that the strategy is fully adopted,” he said, urging all government ministries and agencies to approach transparency with utmost seriousness.
Mariama Navo, Director of the NACS Secretariat, reiterated that all Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) are expected to fully comply with the NACS framework. She stressed that the ACC must lead by example to ensure the strategy’s success, particularly in auditing and procurement functions.
Deputy Director of NACS, Wilfred Bangura, acknowledged the ACC’s progress in operationalizing internal controls. He noted that the Commission, along with other MDAs, is being assessed through a compliance matrix and encouraged continued efforts to close existing gaps.
The engagement concluded with a collective commitment from all participants to reinforce compliance, adopt stronger follow-up measures, and ensure the goals of the NACS framework are fully realized. The Secretariat affirmed its intention to continue engaging institutions in the near future.
