The National Commission for Social Action (NaCSA) has launched the Productive Social Safety Net and Youth Employment (PSSNYE) Project in Bo District, promising the creation of 3,000 jobs across several regions, including Port Loko, Makeni, Kono, and Bonthe.

The initiative is part of a national effort aimed at enhancing youth employment and promoting environmental sustainability through the Green Public Works (GPW) program.

The launch event was attended by key figures such as NaCSA Commissioner Ernest Mbaimba Ndomahina, Senior Director for Social Protection Idris Turay, and NaCSA Board Chairman Mohamed E.K. Allie.

Local leaders, including Mayor Komba Musa of Bo, Deputy Mayor Rugiatu S. Kororma of Kenema, and Mayor Mohamed M. Robinson of Bonthe, were also present to witness this significant milestone in Sierra Leone’s development agenda.

In his opening speech, Mayor Musa expressed gratitude for NaCSA’s commitment to community transformation and grassroots development. He emphasized the importance of collaboration among stakeholders to ensure the project’s long-term success.

Deputy Mayor Kororma praised the GPW initiative, calling it essential for environmental change and youth empowerment. She commended NaCSA for its efforts in engaging local communities and promoting inclusive development.

Mayor Robinson asserted the positive impact of NaCSA’s initiatives in addressing rural challenges, including unemployment and access to basic services. “With NaCSA, everything is possible,” he stated, reflecting the optimism surrounding the project.

NaCSA Board Chairman Allie reiterated the Commission’s dedication to supporting local councils and called for enhanced collaboration among stakeholders to maximize the impact of such programs.

Senior Director Idris Turay outlined the project’s key focus areas, which include drainage clearing, tree planting, and overall environmental protection. He emphasized that the PSSNYE initiative aims to provide sustainable solutions to unemployment, environmental degradation, and social vulnerability.

Commissioner Ernest Ndomahina, delivering the keynote address, reaffirmed NaCSA’s alignment with President Bio’s vision for rural development. He announced plans for a nationwide tree-planting campaign targeting 65,000 trees, with Bo and Port Loko identified as primary beneficiaries.
