‘In response to the impact of the COVID-19 crisis on people’s livelihoods, the Government of Sierra Leone (GoSL) set up the Quick Action Economic Response Program (QAERP). With funding from the World Bank, UNICEF and GoSL, the National Commission for Social Action (NaCSA) and stakeholders including the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), Statistics Sierra Leone (Stats-SL), National Commission for Persons with Disabilities (NCPD) and Sierra Leone Union on Disabilities Issues (SLUDi) have completed the targeting, enrolment and payment of the first set of Thirty-Five Thousand (35,000) beneficiary households under the Covid-19 Ep Fet Po/Social Safety Nets Program.

Additionally, in April 2022, NaCSA in collaboration with the relevant stakeholders targeted and enrolled the second set of Thirty-Five Thousand (35,000) beneficiaries nationwide. This cohort of beneficiaries have received their first tranche payment of One Million, Three Hundred and Nine Thousand Old Leones (Le 1,309,000) or One Thousand, Three Hundred and Nine New Leones (SLe 1,309).

NaCSA wishes to inform beneficiaries and the public that on Saturday 25th March, 2023, it will commence tranche II payment of Cohort II beneficiaries of the Covid-19 Ep Fet Po/Social Safety Nets Program. Each beneficiary household will receive second and last payment under the program, in the amount of One Million, Three Hundred and Nine Thousand old Leones (1,309,000) or One Thousand, Three Hundred and Nine new Leones (1,309).

An additional Four Hundred and Thirty-Six Thousand Old Leones (Le 436,000) or Four Hundred and Thirty-Six New Leones (SLe 436) will be provided to beneficiary households with at least one person with disability. The purpose of this one-time top-up for beneficiary households with PWDs is to provide additional support for the healthcare (healthcare services, therapy, assistive devices,) of persons with disability in the households.

The Commission further wishes to make it known to beneficiary households and the public that during payment of the first set of beneficiaries, certain beneficiary households were left out due to data errors. During this payment exercise, these affected beneficiary households will be equally paid.

All beneficiaries will be paid ‘in cash’ by Rokel Commercial Bank (RCB) with oversight by Community Monitors of the ACC and NaCSA district staff. These payments have the potential to support beneficiaries’ investments in health, education and productive business.

Kindly be cautioned that no one should offer or pay anything to anybody before, during and after receiving the payment. Any attempted extortion or corrupt practice must be reported to the ACC using the toll-free number 515, directly to ACC Community Monitors or other ACC officials and NaCSA district staff. We thank you for your understanding and continued interest and confidence in the work of the Commission”.
