The National Civil Registration Authority (NCRA) in collaboration with Constrat Systems SL LTD has informed the general public that it will commence the production of Securitised and Multi-purpose Biometric Identity Cards and ID Verification System in Freetown and Regional headquarter towns of Bo, Kenema, Makeni and Port Loko on the 10 January, 2023, and in all other District headquarter towns on the 15th February, 2023 at the respective NCRA District Offices.
The categories of the Biometric ID Cards include:
- National Identity Cards (For Sierra Leoneans only aged 12 and above) and ID Certificate for children under 12 years,
- ECOWAS ID Cards – (On demand for Sierra Leoneans)
- ECOWASID Cards for citizens of Member States of ECOWAS
- Non-National ID Cards – (Mandatory for all foreign residents in Sierra Leone).
All the categories of Biometric ID Cards and the ID Verification Platform will ensure proper and reliable identification, authentication and consistency in personal information of individuals.
The general public will report at the respective NCRA Offices and other designated Centres for Application and processing of their ID Cards.
The locations designated in Freetown (Western Area/ Rural) include:
1. NCRA Headquarters at 2 Walpole Street. Freetown.
11. NCRA Office at 238 Off Kingharman Road, Freetown
III NCRA Office at 24 Kennedy Street. (Theresa Hall), Freetown
IV. NCRA Branch Office at 230 Lumley Road, Freetown (By the Round & About)
V. NCRA Office at Waterloo along the Freetown High Way (Opposite the Police Station).
Other designated Centres will be communicated in due course.
