A new ferry has reportedly arrived in Freetown to ease the difficulties of sea transportation from terminal ports in the city.
In November last year, the Minister of Transport and Aviation, Kabineh Kallon, disclosed to Global Times that two brand new passenger ferries are expected to arrive in Freetown before the end of the year.
The Minister then assured that two more will follow in the New Year.
The arrival of the new ferry is expected to ease the difficulties of sea transportation from Freetown Government Wharf to Tagrin.
The Government of Sierra Leone has handed over the ferry terminal ports of Kissy, Government Wharf and Tagrin to Negmar Shipping and Investment Corporation (Incorporated in Sierra Leone) based in Turkey.
Negmar is to develop the infrastructure and renovate the assets presently located in the said Port terminals for the use of ferry service operations, offices, and other services affiliated with the ferry operation, according to a senior official in the Ministry of Transport and Aviation.
