The recently appointed Minister of the Northwest, Ambassador Umaru Bond Wurie, emphasizes unity and development among residents of Sierra Leone’s North-western region
Speaking at the Port Loko District Council Hall on Friday, August 11, 2023, Amb. Wurie expressed his gratitude and vision, stating, “I extend my gratitude to my esteemed colleague, the navigator, Alpha Khan, who has diligently guided us from the 1980s to the present day, preserving our unbroken bond. I also extend my heartfelt appreciation to President Bio for entrusting me with the opportunity to serve my people. The President’s decision underscores the deep respect you have bestowed upon me. My mission is not to represent a specific faction, but rather to seek your counsel and collaboration, so together, we can elevate our region.” Acknowledging the region’s current developmental status in comparison to other parts of the country, Amb. Wurie emphasized, “Let us transcend partisan lines and rally behind the common goal. By supporting the government’s initiatives, we can collectively reap the benefits of progress.”
The newly appointed minister drew inspiration from global examples where unity and peace have driven nations towards progress. Ambassador Wurie passionately urged his fellow citizens to transcend political divisions and focus on upholding the fundamental values of their respective parties.
“For the betterment of our region, I invite you to join me in this collaborative journey. We must relinquish thẻ grip of divisive politics and concentrate on the principles that underpin our parties. Together, we can overcome obstacles and carve a path towards devedevelopmente proclaimed. Amb. Wurie concluded with an invitation, saying, “My arms are wide open, ready to embrace your insights on propagating and collcollaborating the progress of our region: Together, let us build a stronger and more prosperous Siera Leone.”
