The Chief Executive of the National Public Procurement Authority (NPPA), Chief Ibrahim Brima Swarray, and his family has over the weekend donated over 500 bags of rice to Muslims in Kenema and Kailahun districts.
Items donated to various masjids in Kailahun District included bags of rice, sugar and some cash.
According to the media team of Chief Ibrahim Brima Swarray’s Foundation, the exercise rolled out to Kenema and its environs targeting the Regional Central Masjid East, Nicole Street, Bambawo Lane, Yopoi Street, Kpetema New Masjid, Mohamed Fofanah Street, Nyedeyama Old Town, Cow Yard, Simbeck, Hangha, Niahun Buima, Ngelehun, Largo, Kormoru, Bambawo to name but few in Kenema District and in Kailahun District capturing Jaluahun and Jah chiefdoms respectively.
They noted that the donation is part of the usual Ramadan gesture that is extended to various masjids during the Holy Month of Ramadan by Chief Ibrahim Brima Swarray and his family, adding that the process has been observed over the past five years.
“The entire process was met with great joy from the recipients as they described the gesture as timely and worth receiving,” the media team stated.
“Chief Swarray has always put a smile on the faces of Muslims during the Holy Month of Ramadan, adding the assorted food items donated were worth over Le100,000,000 (one hundred million Leones.),” they noted.
Delivering the donations on behalf of his family, the team lead who doubles as the mother of the NPPA Boss, Haja Mary Betty Sandy, on behalf of her family delivered the items to the various beneficiaries.
“We know that these times are tough on everyone. However, Allaah (SWT) has the answer because He has told us that charity increases ones sustainability” she said.
Sandy maintained that Chief Ibrahim Brima Swarray is among the lead and humble performers in President Bio’s service delivery charter.
She affirmed that every single good deed of Chief Swarray is geared towards complementing the New Direction Government led by the Republic-centered President H.E Bio.
Haja Mary Sandy, reemphasized that the Holy Month of Ramadan is a special period when Muslims from all over the world fast from dawn to dusk as an obligatory act prescribed by the Islamic faith. “Ramadan is the time when charitable assistance is given and blissfully accepted.
Similar statements were given by Fatmata Swarray, wife of Chief Ibrahim Brima Swarray.
Receiving the Ramadan gifts, the Acting Chief Imam of the Kenema Central Mosque Alhaji Konneh thanked Chief Swarray and his family for the donation.
He said Allah is the only King that would reward a giver in the Month of Ramadan. He called on other beneficiaries to holistically ask on Allah to increase the might of the giver.
The recipients further expressed their profound gratitude to the NPPA boss and his family.
